Key Stage 3 PDF Print E-mail

Currently in A3, the Key stage 3/4 class for pupils with Autism we have 9 pupils.

Kath Robjohn is the class teacher, and she is supported by Claire, Bridget, and Scott.
Within A3 there is a lot of emphasis on life skills and personal development, as well as focusing on different areas of the Curriculum. Through the week the pupils also have the opportunity to spend time in the main body of the school with other teachers doing Music, Welsh and DT.

There is a large emphasis on communication and strategies such as PECs, Makaton and TEACCH are all implemented in the class throughout the day to assist pupils learning, understand and development.

One of the main aims within A3 is to encourage our pupils to become as independent as they can.
Once a week we visit Pedal Power in Cardiff, we also try and spend a day a week out in the local community visiting educational sites such as St. Fagans, and putting social skills into practice by visiting shops and cafes.

On a Wednesday morning, a lady called Marilyn visits A3 to do a relaxation session, all pupils are responding well and are really enjoying the experience.
