The School Council at Ysgol Ty Coch Why have a School Council? The School Council helps pupils to make choices, to form opinions and to provide a level of empowerment that they otherwise may not experience. The School Council provides our pupils with a voice in the running of the school. Ysgol Ty Coch belongs to the pupils and the School Council is their platform for positively and realistically contributing to Whole School Improvement. How does the School Council work? The School Council at Ysgol Ty Coch is made up from 12 Year group Representatives. These pupils were voted for and elected to their posts in September 2008. Representatives are elected annually. The School Council meets every half term and provides a forum for discussion for pupils to discuss issues affecting them.
Minutes are taken at each meeting and these are distributed to all classes. Pupils are able to raise issues at the meetings and additionally, classes are given discussion topics to debate before meetings. The co-ordinating teacher and members of support staff also attend meetings.
