Growing Food and Friendship

Mrs Tilley visited our partner school in Mbale, Uganda during half term. She had a very warm welcome from the ten members of staff and the 1000 pupils. They were thrilled with the Welsh flag and it will fly next to the Ugandan flag in the school grounds. While she was there Mrs Tilley planted a jackfruit tree and a eucalyptus tree.  They sent a huge thankyou  for the £400 we raised for them. It will enable them to buy some much needed resources for the school.
A partnership agreement was signed between the two schools marking the start of a firm link between two continents.

Hooray! We have managed to raise £400.00 for Mrs Tilley to take out to Uganda with her, this should enable our friends to buy a lot of trees and maybe some other items.

Can we all wish Mrs Tilley the best on her trip, take care of yourself, enjoy the experience and please come back safe.

Good news! We have been awarded a grant from the British Council to help us build our partnership with Lwandubi Primary School in Mbale, Uganda.
Mrs Tilley will be travelling out to Uganda during half term. She will be visiting our partner school to meet the staff and pupils and will be discussing our joint project “Growing Friendships and Food”
We hope to welcome back the head teacher from Lwandubi Primary School in December.
We would like to be able to raise enough money for Mrs. Tilley to be able to buy some trees for the Mbale school to plant in their grounds. We will also plant some trees in our Sensory Garden during their visit to us.

Please support us in any money raising ideas the pupils come up with –from coffee mornings to raffles .

Books for Lwandubi
We have been contacted by Jenny Lewis who runs a charity to set up libraries in schools in Uganda . She has set us the challenge of collecting 300 children’s books which she will get shipped to our partner school to set up their library . Please send in a book with your child . If you write a message or put a photo in the front she will make sure a photo is returned to your child of a pupil in Lwandubi reading the book. She is particularly looking for picture books, lift the flap books and easy readers- (remember English is their second language! Harry potter is too hard. )
Thank you in advance

We have linked up with a school in Uganda. We are exchanging news and photographs. Eventually we hope to be able to visit the school and be able to welcome a teacher from Uganda to
our school.
We sent out some disposable cameras for the Ugandan pupils to be able to take some photos of their school for us to see what it is like.

As you can see the photos show that the classrooms are very crowded!

We are sending information about our sensory garden so the pupils can see what sort of things we grow in Wales.
