Ysgol Ty Coch has achieved the BECTA Award for ICT.

Ysgol Ty Coch is a local residential school for children with severe learning difficulties and those with
Autistic Spectrum Difficulties.

At Ysgol Ty Coch we provide a caring, safe, stimulating environment, for all pupils challenging them to achieve their maximum potential through equal access to an appropriate, individual and relevant curriculum.

The school caters for children from Nursery age right through to School Leavers.
We have a Nursery, Primary Department, Secondary Department and Autistic Department.

We also provide good quality links within our local community, using all the local facilities that are on offer.

Our commitment to this mission means that we strive to:

• Provide a broad, appropriate and stimulating curriculum, which includes, the National Curriculum, the Revised National Curriculum and Sensory Curriculum, challenging each child and enabling them to succeed.

• Acknowledge and respect the individuality of each pupil where everyone is a valued member of the school community.

• Recognise our particular contribution within the child’s development and offer positive preparation for their adult life.

• Maintain access for all pupils to high quality resources, communication systems and expertise within an attractive environment, including specialised provision, in order that individual needs can be met.

• Recognise that our staff team is the school’s primary resource and that valuing, supporting and developing staff is central to our pupils’ achievements.

• Work with parents/carers as partners in their child’s education and offer them professional support, information and guidance.

• Develop and sustain close community contacts for the whole school, encouraging integration across a wide spectrum, where appropriate.
