Eye Gaze

Eye Gaze

For many people who have difficulty physically using a computer, eye gaze technology can offer a quick and easy to understand way of accessing your favourite software.

What is eye gaze?

Eye gaze or eye tracking is a way of accessing your computer or communication aid using a mouse that you control with your eyes. Eye gaze follows your eyes with amazing accuracy to see where you are looking on the screen. You can then select the item you are looking at by dwelling (staring at the screen for a length of time), blinking or clicking with a switch.

Ysgol Ty Coch is currently using static and mobile eyegaze technologies across the school which have been funded by Friends of Ty Coch (FoTC).  We have held Art exhibitions for Eye Gaze  in Gartholwg Lifelong Learning Centre.

Eye Gaze has been a fantastic tool to help children/ young people make their own choices and have Pupil Voice. This is something which has been promoted to the Children's Commissioner for Wales to advocate Pupil Voice for RSE.
