All Children Looked After are very welcome at our school. We understand that moving to a new school can be a big change, especially if you are also living with a new family or carer.

We work closely with children, young people and their carers to help everyone feel happy, safe and settled. Our aim is to make the move to our school as smooth as possible and to help every pupil quickly become part of our school community.

All staff, including support and ancillary staff, complete annual training to help them understand and support Children Looked After. We are proud to have achieved the Platinum Children Looked After Friendly Schools Award.

Julia Render is our Designated Teacher for Children Looked After (CLA). She has completed Level 3 CLA Friendly Schools training and works closely with the Local Authority CLA Team.

Julia makes sure that every Child Looked After has a Personal Education Plan (PEP). This plan helps everyone work together to support the child's learning, wellbeing and progress.

• An initial PEP meeting takes place within 20 school days of joining the school.
• The plan is reviewed regularly, including at six-monthly review meetings.
• Children and young people are encouraged to attend their reviews and share their views whenever possible.
• CLA pupils have a personalised version of the Person-Centred Plan (PCP) and Individual Development Plan (IDP), which includes their PEP information.
• CLA review meetings continue every six months until the young person reaches 18 years of age.
