The curriculum has been designed as a skills led curriculum with the thematic approach being the vehicled through which it is taught.
The skills wheel was devised in advance of the last inspection in 2011 in response to the Skills Framework. In light of the Donaldson recommendations this has now been condensed into five key areas: Language, Literacy and Communication, Numeracy, Digital Competency, Well Being and Thinking. Each lesson will begin by identifying the learning objective and placing it into one of these five areas by use of a symbol that identifies the task to be undertaken. This will then be referred to again in the plenary at the end of a lesson.
